Wings used drum kit and rare acetates in Omega's first Beatles sale of 2021

March 11 2021

2021 is racing by at a rate and we’re all cataloguing double speed here hoping that when we do emerge from the depths of the warehouse at Omega HQ, the sun will be shining and pubs will be open.

Our first Beatles sale of the year is a compact but impressive affair with some real standout lots and some truly unique items.

Here’s what we see as the ‘star lots’..

  • GEOFFREY BRITTON’S WINGS USED DRUM KIT AND RARE ACETATES. Two fantastic lots here at #99 and #100, both consigned by Wings drummer Geoffrey Britton. Offered up is the kit he used on sessions for Wings inc on One Hand Clapping and for tracks on ‘Venus and Mars’. Also from Geoffrey, an excellent acetate collection, four extremely rare single sided discs comprising the aforementioned ‘One Hand Clapping’ sessions.
  • BUSH HOLLYHEAD ARTWORK, PAUL MCCARTNEY HANDWRITTEN NOTE, WATER SPOUT DEMO TAPE. Some super material from the studio of late graphic designer and artist Bush Hollyhead who worked on projects with Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Led Zep and more. Across lots 164 to 167 you’ll see unpublished and original artwork, a handwritten note by Paul McCartney and also a supremely rare demo tape containing an extended version of ‘Waterspout’.
  • SGT PEPPERS ACETATE. Amazing to see original UK double sided Emidisc acetate of the legendary 1967 LP from The Beatles.
  • TELESCOPE OWNED AND USED BY PAUL AND LINDA MCCARTNEY.  Truly a unique item here! This fantastic telescope is a valuable item in its own right, however the fantastic provenance and story makes it one of the more exciting pieces that we’ve offered.
  • 1966 BUSCH STADIUM PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT ARCHIVE.  A group of 49 recent archival 17” x 22” black and white photographic prints printed from the original negative, taken by photographer Tom Morton during The Beatles concert at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 21, 1966.

Hoping that the above piques an interest. As ever – please do get in touch with questions and queries. We’re always happy to help!
