George Michael Personal Gifts
February 13 2026
A rare glimpse into George Michael’s private world.
A personal collection of items gifted by George Michael to one of his closest confidantes, the woman once referred to in tabloids as his “mystery girl"are coming up for sale in our next music memorabilia auction.
The collection, offered, includes:
- A custom-made Faith tour belt buckle by renowned jeweller Theo Fennell engraved on the reverse.
- Freedom ’90 tour-worn Cutler & Gross sunglasses
- Two luxury watches personally gifted and purchased by George
But behind the objects lies a far more intimate story.
The items were gifted to Catherine Anne Beckenham (known as Kay), who shared a close and enduring friendship with George from the very start of his solo career.
The pair met at an industry event while Kay was modelling in London. As George’s career exploded globally, their bond deepened privately. Frequently photographed together, she was dubbed “George’s mystery girl” by tabloids, years before he publicly came out in 1998.
In a reflection of their closeness, George later became godfather to Kay’s children and attended her wedding on Richard Branson’s Necker Island. For her family, he wasn’t a global superstar, he was simply “George.”
Our auctioneer, Paul Fairweather, says:
“This isn’t simply celebrity memorabilia. These pieces tell a private story of loyalty, friendship and trust. We are expecting a lot of interest from fans across the globe”
The sale offers a rare opportunity to own items that were not part of stage costumes or promotional material, but part of George’s real life. In an era where public image often overshadowed personal truth, these pieces come with a narrative of quiet closeness and authenticity.
